3月20日-22日，第十三届中国日报社“21世纪杯”全国中小学生英语演讲比赛全国总决赛在河南大学举行。我校高二学生陈昔诺、初二学生许央参加比赛并取得佳绩，两位同学分别荣获全国一等奖、二等奖。特此祝贺，并对她们的指导教师张海漪、李卓，以及全体外文组老师表示感谢。

附参赛学生感言：

平时在优秀的同学堆里，总是会感叹自己“心拙嘴笨”。在我学习的环境里，许多的同伴都闪烁着深邃的灵光和思考，他们拥有下苦功习得的流利语言。但正如我的语文老师郑老师说的，“当你走出杭外，走到更大天地里的时候，才会感觉到自己已经有了一分出众。”这便是我的感想。当评委对我的一个“深刻”的观点频频点头的时候，我就会想，这大概不是我的努力，而是在耳濡目染之中习性的养成吧。 “思考”与“积累”，渐渐成为宽容环境中养成的一种习惯、生命中再自然不过的一部分而已。

在这里，我想表达我最深最真的感谢：我的英语老师张海漪老师，在截稿前的凌晨熬夜指导我、帮助我修改稿件；高二英语组的全体老师，用心地听我的模拟演讲并提出了很多中肯的建议；我的班主任周美良老师以及我的所有学科老师，宽容了我在截止日期前请假去赶出两篇稿子。每一个老师的用心，都是我无法回报的，也是我最想珍视的财富。

From participating in this competition, I believe that I gained much more than merely an award. Before going onto that grandiose stage, I reminded myself more than a dozen of times that it is already enough to enjoy the process itself. However when it actually came to real, the situation was far less ideal than I imagined just as the saying goes “Life is always full of harsh truths”. Because of my nervousness, my delivered answers were too short and plain to be fully satisfying, and I even got stuck a little. There were bright sides as well that I finally overcame the problem I have always had—an expressionless tone with the help of my dear teachers, parents and friends. During this contest, I was told at least 10 times that “It is already an honor and an enjoyment to stand on the stage of 21st century cup.” And not until the time when I was truly showing myself to everyone, did I realize the real meaning of this sentence. Just like the topic of this contest, I rediscovered myself in a way I had never imagined. Once again, I would like to give my sincerest gratitude to everyone around me who has been with me all the time and 21st century to offer me this precious opportunity of rediscovering.
